alright let me just say this once and for all:

stop saying VD can’t catch…apparently none of u watched him in college

and stop bitching about the refs calls…even tho it was clearly a fumble by holt

all the complaining and bitching isn’t gonna erase those losses alright? so can we please just try and be SUPPORTIVE of our coach and players? k thanks

My 5 cents worth…. VD is a rookie, you can´t hold a liable for a couple of mistakes on his first to games as a pro, no player is ever ready on his first game as a pro. To many butterflies, nervousness call it whatever you want, and it´s obvious the kid is nervous after breaking his leg. In regards to Alex Smith, I heard something interesting the other day, this kid (only 22 years old and the youngest QB in the league) has had to learn to playbooks in his first to years as a pro, and his shown significant imporvement. To me, he´s doing a great job… Patience my fellow Niner Fans, our time will come. We shouldn´t even be thinking about the playoffs this year, and the team is right there in the mix giving us a great season for and amazingle young squad. Go Niners, and let´s just hope for at least a playoff game this year, to me that would be great.

Like a lot of 49er fans, I’m spoiled. 5 Super Bowls was a fantastic run for us. But I’m sane enough to know it’s a long road back.
Under Nolan I see a good change. Moving in a positive direction.
The last two weeks the offense has started to open up a little and give Alex more options.
What I would like to see, one has been stated here. Vernon Davis has speed. Send him downfield and stretch the field. Like others said, even if he’s not open, it takes players away from Bryant and Battle, and keeps them from crowding Gore.
Second: Stop sending Johnson into the flat. He’s an excellent possesion receiver, but has no moves. He reminds me a lot of Brent Jones. Send him over the middle, just like Jones routes. He’ll catch the ball with his good hands, and not have to worry about making someone miss to get to the first down marker.
Keeping the left side of the line is VERY important, and like most, Harris wiffing does worry me. We don’t want Smith crippled.
Finally, thank god for Gore. Let’s pray he stays healthy.

On a side note, although I wish we were at home, I’m glad we’re playing in New Orleans. In fact, I think Gore beats Bush anywhere except in Florida…...

Big M, you are SO right. I wish people who have no idea what they’re talking about would just shut the hell up instead of embarrassing themselves:

49erTNT says VD cost the Niners a game by dropping a TD pass even though that was in the first Rams game, which they WON. And omgs is just as clueless—the reason they run so many bootlegs is because the line is much better at run-blocking than pass protection (the most glaring example being Kwame Harris), and because Smith is so adept at throwing on the run. The only reason you would ever run bootlegs because of a QB’s deficiency is if he had great legs but no arm (e.g. Jake Plummer), but that is DEFINITELY not the case here—Smith’s arm strength is just fine. The only problem with Smith’s passing is that he doesn’t put nearly enough air under his deep passes, which forces him to be perfect to make the completion, and that can easily be fixed in time.

why does everybody here think they are a qualified scout? Davis plays slow and Smith makes us simplify the playbooks and we run repetitive shit? you can sure make it sound like you know what you’re saying…

i read somewhere on 49erswebzone that vd only dropped four passes. it seems like a lot more than that, but still they cant give up on the guy, hes a rookie and theyre paying him plenty of money. its not like he isnt talented or something like that. i say vernon davis is gonna be the focus on offense this week. gore needs some rest and i think everyone knows it. as awsome as gore is, he cant get 55% of the offensive plays every game, hes never gonna last a full season like that. it would be a shame to destroy frank gore like that
