Bill Walsh had an idea. A way to bring success to a pro football team. This is not unusual, as many ideas have had success in the NFL. What sets Walsh apart? His idea is still working to some degree over 20 years later. What sets Walsh apart? His idea turned perhaps the worst team in to the best in two years. What sets Walsh apart? His uncanny knack of finding just the right players to execute his plan. Oh yeah, and his teaching and motivating skills (I remember the Bellhop outfit he wore that time. Classic).

I can do nothing but wish well to a man who wanted the best for all around him. And being in pro sports, he made a lot of people happy about it in the process.

In my opinion, Bill Walsh is the greatest football mind and coach of all time. I like Mike Nolan, and I think he will be a great coach, but nobody can deny that we would not have 5 superbowl titles had it not been for Bill Walsh and his genius approach to coaching. Although he never played the game, he became a student of the game and was such a great teacher and motivator that he took a scrawny quarterback that everybody had passed on and built a dynasty and a tradition of supreme excellence. It's always been a dream of mine to meet Bill Walsh, and though it looks like I'll never get that opportunity, I am glad that he was put here on this Earth to forever change and improve the greatest game to ever exist and instill a sense of pride in San Francisco and fans all over California and the West Coast. The team owes it to him to win at least one more Superbowl before he passes. We, as fans, owe it to him to be supportive to the team as they rebuild just as Walsh was doing 25 years ago.
