I stole this breakdown from someone else, from Nolan’s latest press pass. Enjoy.
*Win means nothing if they can’t get back to back wins.
*Impressed with effort from defense and special teams. Hopefully builds confidence.
*Better tackling, Swarming to ball.
*Better at 3rd down defense (still struggled early in the game)
Key to get offense back on field.
*Outstanding onside kick.
*Turnovers very important. (Should score after them)
*Joe Nedney, Brandon Williams, Maurice Hicks, and Andy Lee (great ST performances)
*Crowd was very supportive (understands that teams performance contributes to this).
*Brandon Moore has been playing well at different positions. Deserved to start over Ulbrich. Got game ball along with Nedney. He attacks line of scrimmage (needs to be careful doing that on passing plays). Very aggressive.
*For now competition is important for playing time BUT wants 11 guys to solidify position as starters on each side of ball.
*Hope is that success breeds success.
*Must play better on road. Need to keep confidence.
*Complimented Vikings defense (particularly front 7).
Thinks they “look good getting off the bus” unknw.gif
*Marques Douglas was challenged with Hutchinson. Was impressed with his effort. Held his own and made plays. (very smart, hard working and confident, despite physical challenges) Says his natural weight is like 230. Plays at 280. jesus.gif
*Admits tight and simplified playcalling offensively.
*Keith Lewis was solid (out of position on deep pass but recovered with hit) 50/50 with Mike Adams with playing time.
*Brandon Moore and Keith Lewis are now starters (not a week to week thing)
*Jeff Ulbrich did indeed approach special teaams coach (did a very nice job). “having guys like that will help you win”
*Playing time of Keith Lewis and Mike Adams dependent upon health of Chad Williams.
*Vernon Davis questionable. If he’s back he will be utilized, albeit in a limited fashion.
*Eric Johnson has been top notch up to this point. Admits he does things better than others. He’s done everything asked of him. Work effort has been 2nd to none on team. Pass blocking is better than run blocking but he does best he can. Vernon is much more explosive but is limited in experience. Davis, Johnson, Walker and Bajema compliment each other well, but Davis is clearly the best all around, but he’s still a rookie.
*Manny Lawson is clearly one of teams best players but he is playing new positions and is a rookie and is getting accustomed to NFL. Playing multiple positions is extremely difficult for a rookie. Hard worker, tough, amazing range. Impressed with his performance as a rookie but understands his struggles.
*Plans for right tackle… 50/50 split with Adam Snyder and Kwame Harris. Snyder spells Jonas Jennings. Needed as backup at other positions. Would rather Snyder play RT and backup LT.
*Noone stood out offensively. Frank Gore potentially. Noone played really poorly. Just noone stood out.
*Alex Smith struggles most when his eyes come off target. (mainly because the clock is still fast in his head because of last year i.e. time he has to get rid of the ball)
*Will be rooting for the Raiders.
*No good reason for him to call timeout at the end of 1st half. Wanted to see if big play popped. Knew it couldn’t hurt them.
*”I would very much so” like old uniforms to return. Will NOT be in 2007 but it has been discussed. Players prefer them as well. John York’s decision.
*Maurice Hicks didn’t return kicks because of his concussion last week. Brandon Williams is the backup.

Some FA i would like to see sign wit the niners are Asante Samuel, Adalius thomas, Kawika Mitchel(If D.Smith retires), Kevin Curtis, and Jared Allen. Then we could draft a badass S, a ilb to rplace j.Ulbrich, some decent backup lineman on offense and defense, and then we’ll be the shit

I say sign Thomas and Samuel. Then do some trades. Trade a 3 and 4 for a 2. Trade that 2 and a 3 or 4 for a late first rounder. Then do this…
1st first rounder: LaRon Landry, S, LSU
2nd first rounder: Paul Pos(cant spell the last name), LB, Penn State
second rounder: Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska
or
1st first rounder: LaRon Landry, S, LSU
2nd first rounder: Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska
second rounder: Steve Smith, WR, USC
those would both rule

btw which situation is ideal is dependent on if Carriker is projected to be a late first rounder or a second rounder.
