I am a Niners fan and sure, I am an idiot, admittedly. But at least I can also admit that the Niners have a mediocre QB at best and whether he's with us for 5 more years or 10, I dont see him taking us to the Super Bowl.

Im sure a few experts will say he's great but until I see it, I dont believe it. If your naive and a blind supporter, hey more power to ya, Smith is the greatest of all time.

As for which young qb's are better than him, just look at any 1st or 2nd year qb's ratings and you'll see for yourself. Every young starting QB has better stats than Smith does/will at this point in his carrer. And so what the Vikings waxed Seattle, that doesnt impress me, Miami waxed Chicago, big friggin deal, have a cookie.

Until we get a real qb, look for more losses and some wins with FG's, no passing TD's. The offense overall is good, we just dont have a qb thats fits with our good offense, sorry, its sad but true.

All im sayin is, to be paid that much is ridiulous, he's nowhere near worth it and hey, WE SHOUDLVE USED SMITHS MONEY TO KEEP J. PETERSON, insanity that is Nolan.

As for Smiths hand size, for a qb his hands are small.

Who are these young QB's that are better than him?

Charlie Frye? Nope

Bruce Gradkowski? No

Matt Leinart? No (and Smith is younger than him)

Vince Young? No, I am suprised he can even dress himself on Sundays.

Why can't he improve anymore? He seemed to improve quite a bit and he has just completed a seasons worth of games.

That under average viking team waxed seattle on the road.

His hands were measured to be above average size at the combine...do some research.

Ok so Sean Salisbury just picked Alex Smith as his comeback player of the year so far, saying "I now see why the 49ers picked him when they did." So im going to have to side with the experts. Plus Alex has a better QB rating and more tochdowns than Ben, and less INTs than Ben or Eli

Are you kidding me? You cant compare Eli or Ben to Alex. They all came into the league under different circumstance. Ben came in with a solid running game and great, veteran defense - a Qb's to best friends. Eli sucked his first year. But has been steadily improving because of support he has gotten from Tiki's running.

This is Alex's first year with a decent recivers and good RB in Gore and now he's waaaay better than he was last year. He's, AT LEAST, moved up from a horrendous QB to a mediocre one.

Ppl are in frikkin love with Alex Smith, its insane. Ive been a Niner fan for life, but I can still admit he's just an average QB, he'll never be worth what he's paid.

Some Ppl say he's too young (22), I say, your right, why is he starting then?

And anyways, other QBs are young and playin a hella lot better than smith. As a niners fan, I just demand more, its what im used to with the niners, not as of late of course but still, we can do better than Smith, easily. I mean, lets try scoring TD's against under average teams like the Vikings, seriously, Smith is pathetic IMO of course.

Smith is the Niners' biggest botch ever and thats never gonna change unfortunately. As for him slapping me as one of you said in a previous post, i wouldnt worry too much about a slap from Smith, his hands are the size of an ipod mini so let him slap me in the face.

Alex Smith.... Smallest hands in the NFL.

Some people's memories don't go back past the last game. Alex Smith is okay. He's young. He'll have bad games against good defenses. If the Niner defense puts together a string of games like yesterday's and the offense is still only managing three field goals, then maybe we revisit Smith. I think he's getting better. The Vikings are #2 in the league against running and showed it. And last week was Chicago! The whole offense should get better in the next few weeks. Who knows? Maybe Davis has learned some more of his patterns while his leg was healing.

The Niners' schedule gets easier. Detroit on the road is no lock but it's possible. The games with St. Louis and Arizona are possibles. Green Bay is a possible. Seattle hasn't been dominant lately either. I don't expect them to win all those games, maybe not half of them, but they should be more entertaining than getting beaten down in KC or Chicago.

What I'm saying is that the Niners are reaching mediocre status, which is where you are when you're going from awful to good.
