The 49ers considered two trades for defensive players before Tuesday’s trading deadline, but the teams were asking for picks in the first four rounds of the draft and the 49ers didn’t want to surrender them. Also both players were in the last year of their contracts, meaning the 49ers might have a shot at them in free agency.

That’s one thing I like about our new FO. They don’t settle for stupid trades to try and get a quick fix. With TD running the show we were very often the one holding the short end of the stick.

And those two players would have been??

This is a good none-move. Adding a player or 2 won’t upgrade the defense that much this year. The 49ers need as many draft picks as possible and can still sign these same players in the off season.
Nolan has good plans and he’s sticking to them.

Good move on the Niners part. What the point of trading for guys who probably wouldnt come back next season. was that mcfarland guy that went to the colts on his last year? i bet he was one. and prolly m. Lewis

ted, we were looking to bring defensive players in, not trade our own offensive players…regardless, kwame still sucks worse than our defense
(ok maybe that was a little low)

Jer, that was a perfect way to put it.

According to a reliable source, those two players were Adalius Thomas and Nate Clements. The asking price were a 3rd for Thomas and a 2nd and 4th for Clements.

as much as i’d like to have clements, i still think they were asking for too much, even if we do have a ton of extra picks in the middle rounds.

Good Move! Nolan has done an outstanding job with the previous 2 drafts. Those picks could be crucial, especially if we would be looking to trade up next year too. If we want any of these players that damm bad, We will wait till the end of the year and get in a penis contest with everyone else if we have to

Any way we can trade defensive coordinators instead???

Scott: ur right this is fucking bull shit. There is no way rodgers or cutler even compare to smith. the haven’t even gotten on the field for a whole fucking game! SI is pissing me off. Plus out of all those QB’s Smith is at least top 3 in consistency this year. Smith is underrated now but when we pull ahead and win a Suber Bowl, people are going to be shittin themselves.
