Receiver Marcus Maxwell rejoined the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad Tuesday after getting cut right
before the regular season.
Maxwell, a seventh-round draft pick from Oregon in 2005, playedbriefly in four games late last season after spending the first 10 weeks on the practice squad. The Bay Area native was born in Berkeley and grew up in Hercules.
To make room, the 49ers waived receiver Cory Rodgers from the practice squad.

There may not be much of a difference at all, or anything specific happening that caused this change.
From my understanding of the practice squad, its a group of guys the team uses during the week to help them practice and gameplan against an opponent. For example, with the Chiefs and Raiders coming up, Maxwell may do a better Gardner and Moss impression than Rodgers could.
Then again, I could be completely wrong…

Who cares about Maxwell. I would like to see Taylor Jacobs on the field though. Jacobs is much better than Gilmore.

i want to see jacobs too but i wouldnt say he’s much better than gilmore. gilmore has good hands and is very fast i allways see him getting open. we thought we didnt have anything at receiver but it really has been a pleasant suprise. bryant battle gilmore jacobs and the rookie. i think thats a very respectable group of recievers. isnt jacobs comming off of his injury this week? i hope he plays against kc

I hope our linebackers bring a kill anything walking attitude to sundays game because KC has an anemic pass attack and running the ball is pretty much the only positive thing on this team and if we give up huge runs and cant sack a bitch, then its goin to be a long day.

I wish the niners would quit dicking around with practice squad players and sign a real fucking player. Just for trivia, can someone name me a real star that came out of any practice squad?
