49ers received good news on Monday, running-back Frank Gore who suffered bruised ribs during the loss to the Eagles, is expected to play this weekend against the Chiefs. Also look for Michael Robinson to replace Gore in short-yardage and goal-line situations, due to Gore’s fumbling issues.

DO you think I should grab Machael Robinson as a flex in fantasy football so I could get all those goal line touchdowns?

It all depends. How many teams are in your league and is it a keeper? With a league with 12 or more teams or an ‘NFC only’ if there is such a thing, you might want to look at that. I know that Frank Gore has been impressive, but Robinson has been just as impressive in his lesser role. Of course in a keeper, you usually want the back up as well as the starter. All of this revolves around the depth of your league. If you can get another #1 or a viable temp, I would suggest you do so. With Gore’s injury and fumblitis, SFs running game is suspect until they can resolve this issue. I imagine they will contiue to succeed on the ground, but who knows who will be doing the scoring. Hell, with the way EJ grabbed those balls out of the air, I would suggest we pass him the ball in the Red Zone.

I don’t know if he will ever get over it because robinson will probably get all those goalline carries now untill he shows that he has the some problem, or if he ain’t getting the job done. Kinda like Dunn and Duckett were used in Atlanta.

honda is right, even jerry rice dropped a shitload of balls at first too, tiki had the same problem and he fixed it, gore is too much of a confident competitor to let this get him down. i dont know why people bitch so much after giving him all the attention to drive out barlow
14 hours after the fact.it happens and gore IS our back, he is a rb that i am proud to say is a 49er. he WILL get over this hump!

A little overprotective aren’t we? Yes he’s a good back, yes he’s young and needs to get over it. But fact is he’s fumbled the ball on key situations 3 weeks in a row. The question isn’t if he will get over it, it’s when. I was just giving him a hard time, no need to go off the deep end.

What is wrong with the niner faithfuls? On the webzone threads VD gets ripped because of his catching,AB gets ripped becasue of his complaining nolan and norv get ripped becasuse of coaching and play calling.c’mon were in a better situation this year than last year its not like were 0-3 were a very good team this year alex is a gun slinger! Gore is a beast M RoB is an up and coming brandon jacobs.only thing or person that desrves to get ripped is the play of our safties because there whats preventing us from exelling at defense.

GoT VD??? – I agree that some fans just have unreachable expectations for the current team and the franchise in general, but 90% of the criticizms I’ve seen have been legitimate and despite them they applaud all the other improvements the team has made.
Like Nolan and Smith have said, they have passed the leeway window. Any mistakes can and should be held accountable for improvement’s sake.

As far as this thread goes, I think this is a good thing, Robinson should be getting 30% of the carries anyway, at least. Gore has been an injury prone back for his college and professional career, to give him 90% of the carries is just asking for a major injury. They are both young and a somewhat split of the carries would be good for both players and the offense in general.
——————
You can’t rip one position on the 49ers defense for getting ripped, the safties are poor yes, but the pressure on the qb is few and far between, they’re essentially asking the other team to beat itself, which is why in 3rd down situations over the last couple years, when the team is patient and plays it safe, they usually convert even when its 3rd and very long.
The fact of the matter is, the talent overhaul has been done on the offense, and rightly so as a great deal of the 49er fans, because of history, just aren’t the type of fans who want to come out and watch a 6-3 slug fest with terrible offenses. They can go to work now on the D, probably need a whole new defensive line with BY leaving soon, new saftey, a corner to start opposite of spencer. Personally if they can only get 1 or 2, I’d prefer they get 2 pass rushing defensive ends they are the keys to causing consistant havoc in the backfield that the 9er defense lacks. Safties are great glamour position ( big hits and ints ), but there’s only 3 or 4 in the league who are versital enough to really change the game on a play to play basis.

Bottom line,
I couldn’t even watch the Niners the last couple of years. It hurt too much and they were boring. This year they’re fun to watch. And in both of their losses they still fought hard to the end.
Gore’s fumbles are because he’s not jumping with shoulders squared to the line of scrimmage. He’ll learn about that.
Vernon Davis gets a month to watch Eric Johnson catch the ball. You can’t do things one-handed in the NFL.
Expect Larry Allen to show up in a game in the next few weeks, meaning an even better running game and more protection for Smith.
Smith just gets better and better. A few more connections to the wideouts and the offense will be even better than #3 in the league.
Of course, the problem this year will be the defense. I think that Nolan’s schemes are fine. He just doesn’t have the horses. Manny Lawson will eventually be the stud everyone expects him to be. We just need to find two or three more studs on defense in the next draft.
In short, the Niners may not win a whole lot more games this year but they’ll be fun to watch. This year is all about next year. Don’t let them break your heart. Just sit back and enjoy what’s good about them and know that things are getting better.
