Davis, the sixth overall pick in the draft, got hurt while trying to chase down Patterson from behind. Davis was taken off the field on a cart and is expected to miss four weeks.
“I was trying to tackle him and I just pulled up,” Davis said. “I didn’t make any contact. I felt something and just fell down.”
Davis said he bruised his calf in practice during the week and believed that might have contributed to the injury. Davis had no catches in San Francisco’s 38-24 loss to the Eagles and has five receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown this season.
Davis acknowledges it is frustrating to have a setback this early in his rookie season.

Fuck, well at least now he’ll be able to work on his hands and learning how to catch the ball. E. Johnson is still in SF and Delanie Walker is Back so we shouldn’t suck at the TE position. How about my boy Micheal Robinson, he should be our goal line back.

yea i was hoping i’d be able to see delanie walker play somehow (wasn’t hoping for a TE injury)
and i agree fully on M.Robinson being the goal line back…took gore 6 failed attempts before he fumbled whereas it only took M.Rob 1 try on both his goal line runs to punch it in. I was also impressed with Hicks, making plays and picking up blocks when they called his number. i just wish we could make tackles when we’re in the backfield! THIS IS THE NFL!

Fuck vernon, he shouldn’t be starting anyway. So this gives nolan the easy way out to start ej. the way it should have been from day one. watch the tight end positions production now, with ej and delanie.

delanie is a totally unproven commodity. who knows how he’ll play after being out for 4 weeks and now coming out and playing 1st string defenses? this isn’t preseason anymore, and everyone has 3 weeks on him

We are paying Vernon Davis way too much money. 5 year signing for $25 million. That is $5 million per year for a guy who has missed two touchdown passes over 3 games, not to mention that he has missed down the field passes as well. We are paying him too much to keep him off the field fellas. We have to hope he improves, though I still do not know how a player misses that many passes as a #6 pick. Yes, he is a rookie, but you guys do understand that means HE PLAYED IN COLLEGE, where he was required to CATCH FOOTBALLS….??? Dropping footballs has nothing to do with being a rookie. The first one or two you let slide because the player may be nervous. The others are bullshit.
Draper, I disagree with you on Delanie Walker. He is the freakin’ truth. We will be just fine with Walker and EJ in the game. The Chiefs will provide us with a W, you will see.

I’ll bet MJ was saying the same thing about Rice in his rookie season when he dropped all those passes. Sure wish we bailed on that guy too…..
