Frank Gore doesn’t like to fumble, and he’s so concerned with his fumbling that he has contacted head coach Mike Nolan after each game to talk about his fumbles.
“I wanted to know what he saw,’’ Gore said. “He told me he understands that the type of runner I am, I’m always trying for the extra yard. But he told me I’ve just got to be smarter and always remember that there is another down.’‘
Nolan isn’t about to have Gore change his style of running. But he would like Gore to be more conscious of how he handles the ball.
“Because of the kind of player he is, and how important it is to him to be good, Frank’s one of those guys that’s going to work on it,’’ Nolan said. “He’s still a young guy and he’s got things to learn. One of them might be the ‘high and tight’ part.’‘

I love the fact that not only does Frank say he cares, but he shows he cares. And if this is what it means to be a Nolan guy then I’m Rollin’!

Keep in mind the “faithful” wouldn’t be so accepting if the 49ers had lost that game. Gore better not have any fumbles for a few games at the least. Fight for those extra yards with your legs and keep both arms on the ball.
In the ability to move the ball he may already be top 10 for league tailbacks, but he still has the old question mark of durability and now a new question mark of fumbling on him. Hope he can overcome both. I’d like to see him competing for the total yards from scrimmage title at the end of the year.

you are NOT a faithful if you are feel that way.
7 hours after the fact.gore had a fumble in the first game and(we lost), i didnt hear any boo’s. (thankfully not). i DON’T think our fans (including) myself have any right to criticize him for anything. i think he has done some great things on the field, and i have a gut feeling he is gonna be the future of this team. there should be nothing but smiles for our fans right now.
