Berlanga just got to camp this week. These guys weren’t going to have a chance to stick. Big cuts come next weekend.
“Smith rolls to his right, sees Davis deep. He’s got it! Touchdown! Touchdown! Niners 27, Cardinals nothing! Oh my! What a bonanza!”
Pass the pipe, bro.

If only we could cut Mike Nolan. Hahaha. Hey guys, does anyone know whatever happened to CB Thornton? You know, the cornerback who covered Marvin Harrison last year in a game when Harrison needed one touchdown to pass the record held between Jerry Rice and Steve Young. He covered him 1 on 1, single coverage. He was awesome, what the hell happened over this offseason to change his team role?

I don’t remember for certain, but I think the colts game was at home. I think they wanted to break the record in Indy so he hardly threw to him

Oh god, not the stupid “Thornton shut down Harrison” bullcrap again. Did you actually watch that game sober, or were you too smashed to notice that:
1. They didn’t throw to Harrison much even when he was open, probably to allow him to break the record at home.
2. Harrison has clearly declined the past couple of seasons with him definately losing a step. That is why Reggie Wayne was re-signed to a fat deal to be the new #1 with Harrison slipping into the #2 role.
3. Thornton had plenty of deep help available to him.
4. Harrison clearly had a bad game. It happens to every player, even the great ones. He seemed to be half-assing it out there, perhaps as I mentioned earlier it was related to the whole record deal.
If you honestly believe that Thorton is a big loss to the team, you just don’t know how to watch games and miss those things.

MY QUESTION WAS WHAT HAPPENED TO THORNTON. Did we cut him or something? I just don’t remember reading it. And “Voice of reason,” yes they did not throw to Harrison but only because there was no way the 49ers were going to let the Colts break a 49er record in San Francisco. Thornton was all over him that night, but you are right it was not because he was a defensive stud. It was also because of Harirson’s hand/finger injury last year as well as the pressure focused on Harrison. Thornton was good though, better than what I have seen in these preseason games. I liked him and Shantae Spencer, I was just wondering where Thornton went.

Thorton was signed by the Jets and subsequently waived/cut.
