Update: 08.17.06—CB Shawntae Spencer will be out of action for “a few weeks,” but should be ready to play in the regular-season opener Sept. 10 against the Cardinals, coach Mike Nolan said.

08.16.06—CB Shawntae Spencer went down with a right hamstring injury during the morning practice. After team athletic trainer Jeff Ferguson worked on Spencer for about seven minutes on the sideline, Spencer was carted off the field. Coach Mike Nolan said he does not yet know the extent of the injury.

Spencer was running stride-for-stride with WR Antonio Bryant down the field. Bryant caught the pass down the right sideline, and Spencer pulled up and immediately grabbed his right hamstring.

Jacobs believes the fresh start will do him good, especially now that he’s learning from receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who liked Jacobs coming out of the University of Florida.

“He has seen me play my best football,” Jacobs said.
