If Turner's worked w/ him before & he's still willing to come here, then maybe he can be kept under control... The D should only be sacrificed if they have better talent coming in.

The Niners will be a run first team and I don't think Smith is ready for a head case guy. I think what we have will be what we stick with, Bryant, Davis, Johnson and any other reciever will be more than enough for our young QB. Our TE will be our leading recievers anyway!!!!

Ok Vin, maybe not a safety, but what about all of the other ones? Barlow and K. Harris are both lagging at camp right now and we have an extra 4th rounder.

He is pretty much better than anyone that we currently have if not better. Why not make it happen?

To be honest the 49ers would have completed this deal by now if they really wanted him. After all, Norv Turner was the head coach of the Raiders so he knew how much talent Porter really had.

Porter and Bryant with davis and johnson in a two tight end set with gore in the backfield.

That would be nice.

We still got everyone except for Porter. It's all on Alex Smith.

The reality is that we need a wide reciever. Atleast one more impact reciver.

I'm leaning toward agreeing with Eezy, and disagree with some of the players Justin is willing to give up.

Giving up Rumph AND Barlow would be highway robbery, because I feel that both add significant depth to the team. Barlow may not act (or run) like the starter, but he's definately a good person to have off the bench. Rumph, I feel, should be the nickel or fourth corner. He's physical, and could probably play the slot guys really well. Having him on the field is almost like having another linebacker/safety in passing situations.

Porter's addition would be great for our WR corps, but I don't think we should take a bite out of the depth of 2 or 3 other positions to obtain him. The Raiders will grow desperate to deal him... wait it out and he'll get cheaper and cheaper.

I agree with Eazy, but I also think I would like having Porter in San Fran. I've heard all about his untapped porential and possibly (?) some discipline problems - but I look at that this way..... playing in Oakland, for the Raiders, you're almost peer pressured into playing half assed, committing felonies, etc.. The fact that a player from Oakland doesn't have a rap sheet of significant length is almost intriguing.... (:

As bad as he may seem to everybody, I think we should keep Barlow just because we don't know what Gore's health situation will be. I am the biggest Gore fan there is and the biggest Barlow hater there is, but I think we should hesitate before we deal Barlow and hand the entire load over (or most of it) to Gore. On the other hand, Porter would be a nice addition :)
