49ers.com is reporting that 1st round pick Vernon Davis has signed and will be participating in the teams first practice today.
Look for the deal to be around the price Michael Huff received with the Raiders. Five-year deall reported to be worth $22.5 to $26.5 million dollars, including $15 million in guarantees.

Scott…the numbers I posted for Davis are just a guestimate. I’m going off what Huff signed. Also remember Young signed a 5 year deal with option for 6th. So look for a 5 year deal and maybe a 6th. We should know more about the contract later today.

He will. I’m sure they saw what Huff got and went from there. Seems 5 years is what the going rate appears for on the years. I’d love it to be for 6. But most likely 5 with maybe an option for a 6th. Not sure though considering those option years were Donahue’s thing, not the current regimes.

This year is a unique year because Vince Young got more money than #1 pick and Bush wants the same. But typically contracts run down hill. Typically, you make a little less than the pick before you and a little more than the pick after you. Huff got a similar contract from the Raiders, and reports are VD is getting just a little bit more. Contract is right where it should be for Davis.
I bet you in 3 years, they’ll be talking about Davis as one of the 3-4 best players from his draft class. So he’s worth it.

They had to pay him #6 money they can’t just not pay him the money just cause he plays tight end position it’s all business and they wasn’t just trying to over pay him and if the didn’t pay him then he would had held out trust me and he should be worth it cause he’s tight end that play’s like a wide receiver and these tight ends seen this contract and they’ll restructure their contracts believe dat.
