Just like in Dallas, the Cowboys have never actually played in Dallas. They played in Irving, and they are moving even farther away from Dallas to Arlington, yet will still be the Dallas Cowboys. Quite frankly I think it is DUMB when these cities underestimate the impact a succesful sports franchise can have on their city. It just makes a huge intangible difference to civic pride. If they do leave, it will be a big mistake for San Francisco. Would they really rename the team though? Just like in Dallas, the Cowboys have never actually played in Dallas.
