Good job of thinking about taking on this LB with nothing but trouble off field. Nolan is really getting good at picking players that a good on the field and out of trouble off the field.

Im sure a lot of these fake ass fans on here, had it been 1979, wouldve probly said something like "What has Walsh proven, nothing other than he can go 2-14"

First of all, the Bengals used a 3rd round pick BECAUSE, coincidentally, Thurman is now suspended for the first 4 games of the season for failing the substance abuse policy. Brooks is an insurance pick.

Second of all, what has Nolan proven. Let's see, he's had 1 draft and 1 year to prove himself. Let's see, if the Cowboys had given Troy Aikman 1 year, he would have been cut. It took Bill Cowher how long to get to the playoffs?? Bill Parcells went like 5-11 his first year with Dallas. It takes more than 1 year moron. Whatever needs to go. Go to amazon.com and buy the book "NFL fan for Dummies".

And although i'm not a Brooks fan, somebody asked about a college player with off field problems making it in the NFL. Ummm, Randy Moss had a 2 problems at Marshall and was almost kicked off the team at one point. Just and FYI!!!!!!!

I am sure the Bengals gave up the 3rd because otherwise we would have offered one of the 4th rounders we had. Also, nobody knows how teams will finish in 2007. Say the Bengals have a bad season and that 3rd rounder is high (this year they had a low 3rd rounder). For us giving up a third was more risky given our record these past years.

"Whatever said:

What exactly has Nolan proven other than that he can go 4-12? I don’t trust anyone who passes on taking a top 10 talent with a 3rd round pick. "

I guess my response would be... number 1, Nolan has proved he can go 4-12 with the team with a young team that with its injuries could have arguably went 1-16. And number 2, from everything I've read about him and from what I've seen of him, i've been impressed. That being said, you're right - he hasn't proven anything. All successful people at one point or another hadn't proven anything. Its how they work and handle themselves up until they "prove themselves" that defines them.

Marcus does not have more talent the Brooks you know Im kind of torn on weather or not we should have takin him but I have seen both these guys play a couple times and Marcus doesnt compare to Brooks

And he is a top 5 talent he prolly would have went to GB and we could have choose between VD and AJ Hawk. But Not one coach or GM thought that he was worth a 1st or 2nd round thats 64 of the smartest people in FOOTBALL!

Experts said Brooks was worth a 6th rounder for a reason. How many troubled college stars actually make it big in the NFL?? I honestly can't think of one. Marcus Vick had more talent than Brooks but he didn't even get drafted.
