Q: How long do you think it will take to get the offense to click? Will this be a season focused on development, learning and studying, cementing the gains and building for the future, or do you expect to achieve all your goals on offense in a single year? – Cris WatkinsA: I would expect us to be good early. I think one of the keys obviously is finding out what our guys do best and let them do it, and then obviously you want to build on that. This group is very, very young and they have a lot of room to grow in many different areas.
Q: What is the transition like, going from being the Oakland Raiders head coach to the Niners offensive coordinator? What do you for see and the easiest and the hardest part of your transition? – Jimmy Reese (and his mom and dad)A: The transition is not a problem. I don’t see anything being hard about it. Wherever I’ve been, I’ve been very involved in the offense so that part is not a lot different. Really it is easier not having to be involved with all the issues you are involved in when you are the head coach, so you are able to have a little more fun. For my family, it was also easier because they didn’t have to relocate!

i like the way this guy talks about our offense, i know he is not gonna say or point out the bad standouts of our offense but he reassures me that our offense is improving, i am too excited about this year, i cant wait till the season start

I hate offseason interviews with coaches. They’re not going to tell you crap. Our offensive line could be the biggest pile of crap in the league, and the coaches are going to talk about development and youth. They can’t be brutally honest, whether good or bad. Norv, quit tickling my nuts and tell me what I need to hear. We suck, we’re solid, we’re awesome, something damn it.

i agree that norm kinda avoided telling us how its going to be but he really hasn’t seen a whole lot so far since we haven’t been in full pads yet. however, i will say that i haven’t been this excited about a Niners team since we had mooch as our head coach. i really like how young we are and we may not be bad ass the next year or two but it will be fun to watch them develop into a great team if our front office can keep a solid core of the team to stay signed with us.

Excited with mooch as coach?
When we had mooch I new it was going to be run, run, pass, punt, run, run, pass, punt, everytime. He was the most predictable coach we ever had while talent was around. I think we could have done something in the playoffs the years we had mooch if it wasn’t for that predictable play calling.

you were probably excited when erickson rolled into town. id rather have predictable playcalling rather than not having the ball for more than 20 minutes of the game

I think thizznation brought up a valid point. Obviously he recognizes the greatest QB of all time. He isn’t some idiot talking about some one hit wonders like Plunkett or Stabler.
To be honest, I was a bit miffed by the initial promotion of our former #1 draft pick. All that BS talking about “you will want to say you were there for his first game.” Garbage. How dare you insult my judgment by such a reckless comparison. I still hate that we utilized such a high pick on a QB. I don’t think it is ever a smart decision. The Draft system is filled with more propaganda then our Presidential Campaign. You know Nolan wished he could have erased the past and got Cutler this year.
Now we have to see what we really have in our QB. Just some pretty boy from SoCal or does he have the guts. If he washes out and we have to start over so be it. A decade of dominance, two…no you know what…too many of the greatest of all time and a damn good number 8. I can’t complain.
