Through mini-camp and the early sessions of rookie camp, it appears that Michael Robinson has become a jack of all trades, and he is showing very strong potential to be very versatile at the next level. The majority of the focus has been in the backfield, where he has taken snaps at halfback and tailback. Here is what some observers have to say about what they have seen.
He runs with “focus” and “determination,” showing “a good first step” and good vision in drills.
Aside from running the ball he has spent some time at wide receiver and quarterback. Here is what Mike Nolan had to say.
“He did a very good job. He handled himself very well and it was evident because he was in on a lot of plays. He played a little quarterback, a little running back. We split him out on some things.”
The coaches have Robinson penciled in at running back, but they are starting to realize that he has the potential to move around as a utility weapon. Whether it is running back, wideout, punt returner or even 3rd string QB. He has made an impression early on with the coaches.

Sounds like Robinson will be a good team member that the coaches can depend on him in several positions, even QB 3rd string? hummmmm

He better be! I wasn’t exactly extatic about picking up another early second day project. See Rasheed Marshall for reasons of uncertainty.

Why draft him if he wasnt considered a utility guy from the start?

Rasheed Marshall is a terrible example Jason. Marshall does not have the talent or the athleticism of Robinson. Not to mention Robinson is much more powerful. Marshall is a lanky speedster with average hands and he was a seventh rounder for a reason.

Marshall was a late 5th rounder. You’re probably thinking of Maxwell who was drafted in the 7th in 2005. The only reason I brought up Marshall is he is another QB/WR project guy. Waste of a 5th. I get the feeling Scot and Nolan don’t think much of second day guys and are willing to throw an early Sunday pick at projects when there could be talent to be found with a player that has an actual position.

He is just what we need for our team. He will be a great weapon
With Turner on board, I can picture some nice unpredictable play calling and not some Marriucci run run pass punt bullshit
! Go 49ers

It looks like the Steelers and Chargers aren’t the only ones that will do trick plays. Interesting.

I like robinson I knew he’ll do some amazing shit out there but what position yall think he should play and what position do we need him to play the most I think we need another receiver but at the same time running back and even quarterback but I’m not to sure if barlow gore or hicks can hold up a whole season if either one of them was giving the starting job to carry the load but if robinson turns out to be as good as he looks then it looks like we had an A OR A+ draft because some people gave us a b+ draft because of them questioning of why we drafted robinson.

I’m not saying he’s going to be an impact player, but if nothing else the buzz from Nolan and Company could make other teams spend a little time planning for Robinson. At least that’s worth something….......

I thInk we see what he can do in training camp and in pre season if he turns out to be Λ good running back get rid of barlow the guy sucks hicks gore robinson..yes soundz great barlow aint good at all to me just Λ wasted contract..

I think your right about barlow but what I don’t understand is he was looking good a couple years back and he just fell off but at the same time our offensive line wasn’t all that good at times too but barlow just might have to go.
