wr greg lee or LB spencer havner were available

Agreed Lee would have been better. But you have to remember the free agents usually go to which team calls first, and they also can pick and chose which team they want to go to.

Good signing of Malone. He didn’t get that many chances to punt playing at SC, but he’s got a great leg sure to give us many booming kicks.

they should go after spencer havner…he’s a pretty decent LB

Greg Lee went to Arizona. Like they don’t have enough receivers.

Tahi at FB is who I HOPE we’re looking at. As for Spencer Havner – average, slow, undisciplined, REDSKIN.

i like how we stole this payne kid away from the cowgirls… is that a sign some players, dare i say it, actually want to come play for us now??

Yep… Tom Malone (P) – Looks like he could be a really good signing… Hank Baskett (WR) was still available I believe and also Dion Byrum (CB/KR) – They both looked to be pretty decent players and Byrum is a great kick returner! I was hoping we would take a look at these players.

Great pickup in Malone. I think that will go as one of the best undrafted pickups we have ever done.

andy lee sucks im glad we got a new punter
but does anyone know if he is suposed to be one of the elite punters cause i have a draft magazine and it lists him as like the best punter in the draft and does he have any shot at taking out lee????

how about that TE jai lewis…he was a basketball player that ended up being an nfl prospect…espn did a story on him..i know VD and EJ are going to start..but if he shows that he has potential..we could trade him for someone or a draft pick before the season starts..or we can keep him for insurance purposes if EJ gets hurt again..

damnit Nolan, why didn’t you just sign Baskett
3 days after the fact.Foxx said:
Yea i know i wanted Baskett more than any of you. Im from Albuquerque New Mexico and ive watched this guy play and hes damn good, he would have made a great red zone player but the only knock i had on him is he would get a little lazy, but nolan would knock that out of him but hes a viking now darn it!

I go to Rutgers and I’m not sure why we grabbed Baker, heard he had a good combine. All I can say is that he is big, maybe they see something we/I don’t?
3 days after the fact.Dave N said:
Malone has a huge leg and can boom kicks, plus he’s great at getting them in the corner. He should have a great chance of overtaking Andy Lee.
3 days after the fact.thizzel said:
commenting on the TE(scroll up) we just signed, he looks a little raw..as in he needs more practice(don’t know nothing about his blocking), but with the right coaching..he could give EJ a run for his money…then again..if EJ’s healty..naw
3 days after the fact.Anonymous said:
I also go to Rutgers. Baker was the second receiver behind tres moses. He’s big and can jump high but not a good route runner. He was hurt this last year and tres moses is twice the receiver baker is but he is only 5-8. I would have to say hes not making the roster

In a recent interview Mike Nolan was asked how many more wide receivers will the 49ers sign before the start of training camp, and he replied, ” Well we’re going to get a large pool of them, just like American Idol except we’re going to call it American Receiver and try them out and you the fan will vote them off one by one until only 6 remain for the final cut. Televising the show will bring in much needed money to start building a new stadium.” ....Come on Nolan we have a million receivers on the team PLEASE do not sign any more AND THAT GOES FOR TIGHT END TOO!
2 days after the fact.Foxx said:
Haha that Nolan guy is funny!
2 days after the fact.Vin said:
I don’t see anything wrong with signing free agents to try them out during training camp and preseason. It’s not like their entire contracts are guaranteed, so whats the hurt? Antonio Gates wasn’t drafted, and there are plenty of other decent NFL players who went undrafted or were late free agent pickups.
By increasing the pool of possible players, you possibly increase your probability of finding the “best available” player for your team.
