“I was just excited and it was very overwhelming to know it was a life-long dream coming true,” said Davis. “I’ve never cried like that over anything. It surprised me. I was worried that Green Bay or the Jets were going to take me and I knew that I really wanted to come out here, and then it was just the realization that my wish had come true. It was crazy.”

In the last few weeks leading up to the Draft, he made it not so quietly known he wanted to be on the West Coast.

“When the Jets were on the clock I was thinking, ‘Please don’t let them pick me, please don’t let them pick me,’ said Davis. “Same thing with Green Bay. I knew I wanted to be a 49er.”

Why the change for wanting to leave the east coast?

As a kid, Davis remembers cheering on his hometown team, the Washington Redskins. Their head coach? 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

“It’s just an honor to be coached by Norv Turner,” said Davis. “I think he has one of the great offensive minds and I can’t wait to learn this offense.”
