Convert him to a safety. He had good size for a FS, good speed, and he can catch. All he needs to learn his how to tackle which ain't that hard and cover which he has the speed to do. Bring in Ronnie Lott and let him learn from a legend.

I'm not sure about this pick... We needed help in other positions like safety...This guy might be athletic and all but it seems like every year we tak a QB/WR... I though our project was Marshall from last year...and besides how many WR are we planing to have in out team?... Offensively what we need is a FB for the future, and we need to make the rest of our picks for defense side of the ball. VD will bring life to our offense we need to focus on our D

I think this draft is really good so far, despite not drafting any secondary at this point. I felt that the secondary was getting beat mostly at the end of games last year because they were on the field the entire game. Making improvements on offense coupled with improving the front 7 on defense should automatically make the secondary better.

One fact about Robinson is "he makes plays", "clutch plays", don't worry, this guy will deliver @ RB and/or WR. I know we have other needs but this guy is another solid weapon!

AThe 49ers are talking to free agent safety Chad Williams and Mike Nolan said he's hopeful of reaching a deal with the former Baltimore Raven by Monday or Tuesday. Williams played for Nolan while Nolan was the Ravens' defensive coordinator. If the deal goes through as expected, Williams could compete for one of the safety spots or be part of the nickel or dime packages.

Maybe Nolan and McCloughn don't like Bing and Simpson and Wroten and Watson. Maybe they have seen all of them play, and seen all of them on film a lot. You think? Man, there are a bunch of great GMs on this board. What a bunch of jokers.

This is what NFL.com said about Simpson
Simpson is a very talented safety who came out early for the 2006 NFL Draft. While he is going to be drafted high this year, he should have stayed for another season to improve his fundamentals/techniques and could have been the top safety in the 2007 draft. He is a tall, thin safety with the quick feet and playing speed to be productive in all areas. In the games he got graded, he was very productive averaging one play out of every 8.1 snaps, which is excellent for a safety. But he was not as consistent as he is capable -- if he did not miss tackles and bite on plays he would have made even more of an impact. Overall, Simpson is going to be drafted higher than expected because of his physical tools and potential. However, most players who enter the league as inconsistent tacklers never improve. If the light goes on and he learns to tackle better and plays more aggressively he could be a Pro Bowl safety. But in the end, he will become a very good starting safety who flashes big plays, but does not make them on a consistent basis.
Rated I 1st-7thrd meets min on everything.

And Bing
Bing is a junior who came out early for the draft. Everyone is raving about him, but GM Jr. is not sold on him. There is no doubt he looks the part. When he stays over his feet, he can be a strong and violent hitter/tackler, but he gets out of control at times and ends up stopping his feet, diving and lunging, which leads to missed tackles. He does not always come up quickly in run support and often seems content to let his blocker shield and block him out of the play (inconsistent aggressiveness). He has the quick burst and play speed to make plays on passes in front of him, outside along the sideline and in tight man-to-man coverage, but he just is not consistent. Overall, Bing definitely is going to be drafted much higher than GM Jr. has him rated, but we are confident that in time, he will prove our evaluation correct. He will start at free safety or strong safety in the NFL, but will never be a consistently productive all-around safety, and will always miss more tackles than are acceptable for a safety. Rated E 2nd-7th rd.
Who Oakland is converting to a linebacker.
