I played high school ball with a kid from Fresno St. named Wendell Mathis. He did very well for the bulldogs, plus he’s a valley boy. It’s a pipe dream that we’ll draft him especially since he’s a hb, but I hope someone does. Good draft by our brass.

does any one know if we traded cause i thought we had 3 7th round picks and 2 6ths

I really though we were going to have a GREAT draft but honestly after the first round picks Davis and Lawson our picks are questionable. We miss out on Walker but Lawson was a great pick for our defense. If Williams was drafted as a return specialist, I think we should have address our defense by going after Youthboty instead it would have being better. If we wanted a return specialist we could have taken the chance in later round with Bloom. Taken another project player like Robinson instead of taking a chance on Bing or Simpson who are not great but can fill a need to our defense doesn’t make sense.
I think David and Lawson will be great for years to come and will cotribute this season everyone else won’t do much this year or years to come…

I think we did what we needed, we got speed, we got versatility, and we got two playmakers in the first round.
1 hour after the fact.I trust Nolan and company, I think they pulled off one of the better drafts in the league.

Haralson is going to convert to OLB as well, so it is two LB’s actually.

I think they’ll play a 3-4 with lawson and haralson as OLB’s.
I didn’t like the pick in the 4th round of Michael Robinson, the Penn St QB (now RB I guess). I would have preferred Darnell Bing, Safety, from USC. He ended up going to the raiders with the very next pick.
I think we missed one there.

Even though I’m a bit annoyed by some of the picks, the guys drafted are all fast which is important if they are ever going to play and they all seem to be gamers.

good draft now lets see who we get in undrafted fa,s

Marcus Vick never even got drafted, with that much skill, it`s amazing what his attitude got him.

FOR UNDRAFTED FA’S WE SHOULD GIVE SPENCER HAVNER (OLB) AND GREG LEE (WR) A SHOT
40 mins after the fact.TK said:
Wow Greg Lee didnt get drafted, i swear everyone was saying he was gonna be a 4th round pick and no worst. Definitely should try to sign him. Also what about Mike Kudla of Ohio State? I think he would be a solid UDFA signee.
As for our draft overall. I liked the first 2 picks. After that i thought i was questionable down the board. I did like the Michael Robinson pick, but i think we passed on some really good players to draft a couple “projects”...we should have taken Jeremy Bloom instead of Brandon Williams imo.

horrible draft after our first two picks. i cant believe ppl were questioning trading our 3rd round pick for javon. brandon williams is way better than javon…..not

WE ALSO SHOULD SIGN ADAM STENAVICH (OL)FROM MICHIGAN TO HELP AT RIGHT TACKLE REUNITE WITH BAAS SHOULD HAVE GONE IN 4TH OR 5TH ROUND

I think the draft was solid minus maybe Brandon Williams at #3. If Michael Robinson is as gifted and physical as they say he is, him and Gore will make an awesome duo at RB. We need to trade Barlow and Hicks for some players on D or picks next year.

mel kiper gave us the best draft i guess thats big probaly low for all you mel haters though

I am really impressed with our draft. Just a Little cofused with Brandon Williams. He was deffinitley not the best selection there, but i guess the professionals do what they do for a reason so ill go along with it.

That was an excellent draft.

I liked it as well, Robinson will be decent. That guy harlson should be a decent backup as well. Lawson will be a beast. I really wanted Gocong as an olb, I saw him play down here in SLO. great off the edge, I am bummed he wont play for us. I agree about the Bing choice. But the knock on him is that he cant tackle that great. Overall, I like the draft choices we got. Davis is really going to help the team out. Great pickup.
5 hours after the fact.aHUGEfan said:
I don’t mind missing out on Bing. He’s too slow, and benefitted by playing in a superb defense most of his college carreer. He had bust written all over him. We did just fine.
5 hours after the fact.aHUGEfan said:
In fact, I think Hudson has as good a chance as Bing to be a decent safety for us. Good draft!
5 hours after the fact.Steve said:
Watch the highlights on Brandon Williams and you should be convinced that he’s got skill. There’s no doubt he’s got speed for his size and he looks like he’d be at least a big improvement over Rasheed Marshall (no offense tho). B Williams could be OUR Moss, S Smith, etc

Though my boy A.J. Hawk was taken by the Fuckers. I still love our picks, great draft by the 49ers. Though I have to admit, Cardinals looks pretty darn good…Leinart, James, Fitzgerald & Boldin. Can you imagine if would’ve waited to draft a QB this year? We could’ve picked Matt Leinart…just a thought?!
16 hours after the fact.thizzel said:
i don’t know…we would probably be looking at WR braylon edwards as our first pick…or RB ronnie brown…this draft had way more talent than last years draft..i think we would’ve traded are pick if we didn’t get smith at number one..and also..did arizona get TE leonard pope?..damn that would suck…
20 hours after the fact.NinerFan408 said:
I think this a good draft for us, i think we filled alot of needs Lawson and Haralson are quick footed, we didnt want bing he was too slow to be a saftey. Williams is a good player, runs good routes. Oliver provides good depth behind douglas and Vaughn in the 7th was a total scot McCloughan gut choice it could be a good thing. The front office has a bit more film on these guys than we do, not just highlight reels of players we didnt get.
21 hours after the fact.D-Nyce said:
Why are some of yous hatin on Brandon Williams…watch highlights on him from wisconsin because he’s dangerous….he could beat gilmore for no.3 wr with that speed he can break away very fast…he gives us the consistant return specialist we havent had in a long time….Davis and Lawson excellent picks….the 2 i was hoping for in round 1…and michael robinson is fine at RB…i was at the mini camp and he looks like a permanent RB….you’ll see in preseason…parys haralson has great agility…anyone who watched the combine knows wut im talkin bout…WR Delanie Walker…no1 is talkin bout him but he’s 6’2 241…for a WR thats biggg….he’ll toss CB’s off of him easy…Safety Marcus Hudson looks like a player…that wut i like about him…he got talent
