Update: 04.27.06 – An NFL source said the Packers and Broncos recently discussed the availability of disgruntled Green Bay wide receiver Javon Walker. There is a chance Walker will be traded by this weekend’s draft, and the Broncos are one of several teams that have expressed interest in Walker, who is recovering from a torn ACL.
The Packers are believed to be asking for multiple draft picks for Walker. Denver and other interested teams, including Philadelphia and San Francisco, are expected to talk with Green Bay as the draft approaches. There is a chance Denver will try to involve wide receiver Ashley Lelie in a deal. Lelie wants to be traded, and his agents and the team are shopping him.
And Walker, we hear, wants $10 million to $12 million in guaranteed money.
____
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Green Bay Packers have begun fielding telephone calls, and offers, in terms of trying to decide whether it is worth it to trade disgruntled WR Javon Walker. The Packers made it clear they only will trade Walker for the right price, a high price. Teams at the top of the list include the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles, but there are at least three other confirmed teams that weighed in Monday, April 24. There is no shortage of suitors for Walker, meaning that it is looking more and more as if Green Bay will trade Walker.

We need to sign Walker. We need all these weapons on offense. It is a must.

Yes, Walker would be good for the defense, but at what price would be have to go for in the draft if traded??

If the 49ers need to trade out of the 22nd note, this does not mean trade the 22nd pick for Walker. then they should, and immedietly sign him to a long term deal.
I hope they haven’t given up on him or have put too much emphasis on the 22nd pick, the 49ers have cap space, a desperate need for talent, and should take advantage. Whoever they pick at 22nd will be much more of a gamble than walker will be coming off an acl injury.

u think the eagles are wiling to give up a first for him…...if not were the highest bidder..(07 2nd rd)

i agree 100 percent nick…..(no homo)

problem felipe is that the packers don’t want the primary compensation for walker to be a pick next year. They want something this year, probably to entice Farvre to come back for some reason I can’t comprehend.
Andy Reid has a history of not giving up draft picks for anyone, and 1 of the umm 2 times he did it it blew up in his face ( owens ). So I doube he’d offer anything higher than the eagles 2nd round pick, which is reasonably high in the 2nd round ( 48th pick I believe ).
The eagles and broncos want him more than the 49ers do, but the 49ers have money and picks to get him. And a young qb they should be showering with “gifts”.

thanxs 5xchamps, but ey Thizzle, who is ray ray. VD will surprise everyone once he plays in the 9er uniform. He is very buff and will knock tha hell out of defenders and has the speed as a WR. ray lewis
2 days after the fact.Nick said:
I don’t know how much lewis would improve the D, niners need guys who can put pressure on teh qb out of the 3-4. Lewis is a run the field tackler now, 9ers already have one of those. It’s not like he’s the 97-01 Lewis.
2 days after the fact.juan said:
ok dumbasses who think we are getting this “RAY RAY” , its Ray Lewis first off and second he iis getting older by the second we should be looking for young players , we dont want to have to go through another rebuilding stage like this again and third off he is an inside linebacker who doesnt fit in a 3-4 defense and last time i checked we have two decent inside linebakers

true..but it did make people talking though..anywayz..picking at #22 is probably harder to predict than you really think.. my fab five(in order)that could but most likely not..be available are jimmy williams/ernie sims/antonio cromartie/manny lawson/kamerion wimbley/..knowing the fact they all can be taken before #22

1 hour after the fact.Nick said:
I think there’s still a reasonable chance 9ers could end up with walker. 1) Green bay and SF have had a long relationship of trades on draft day, 2) Current green bay head coach just left from SF on pleasant terms, 3) 49ers are more worried about star potential than depth meaning they’d be more willing to part 4) 49ers have the cap room to give him an extension

I like the addition of Walker it’ll surely bring an added depth to our receiving corps… but I hate to say this recovering from ACL Torn could be a tough one to regain back quickly. Yes, he can contribute, but I don’t see him becoming an explosive factor especially with a young QB Alex Smith who’s still learning a new system.

Magiic….don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have Walker in our team like u said his stats will speak for itself & he’s proven, but da point is I’ve never seen any player who came back from a major injury like a Torn ACL & became the Pro Bowl player they were before namely Terell Davis, Julian Peterson and much more. But I know he’ll contribute to the team, but don’t expect too high because coming off from a season-ending injury like that players normally becomes more cautious! That’s all…
5 hours after the fact.Nick said:
Plenty of players have come back from torn acl/mcl injuries in the last 10 years. The surgery is alot less intrusive than it used to be and medical advances in recouperation have made it alot smoother.
If you do it when you’re 35 that’s one thing, but when you’re 23 you can come back from it fine. It does generally take 2 years from the injury to get fully back though.
This all means nothing anymore though as he will end up in Denver, New Orleans or GB.
Prepare for the 9ers to pick a linebacker with the 22nd pick.
Maybe they’ll trade the 2 3rd rounders to get into the 2nd round for someone as well.
5 hours after the fact.MaGiiC said:
I understand the whole cautious thing..but being that we have absolutely no playmakers on offense its worth it to take Λ chance on him…and rmember when hearst tore his acl and he came back and a great season!
5 hours after the fact.J>a said:
if the niners were entertaining the idea of trading for walker they would have not given up there 2nd round pick to Denver.
5 hours after the fact.thizzel said:
yea it’s true that it can take about two years to recover from a messed up acl..before peterson signed with seattle, 49er fans/doctors expressed their feelings through the radio why we should’ve kept him..saying that one year after surgery would be a reach his acl would be a full 100 percent..also saying that he would most likely return to his pro bowl form this year and even better.. willis mcgahee would be a good example…
5 hours after the fact.seattle probably knew something about that..giving him all that money…but i still think he’s a sellout and can’t wait til davis and EJ shits on him…

5 hours after the fact.if lawson is gone by the time we make our second pick..i expect us to get either(in order) jimmy williams, chad greenway, antonio cromartie, donte whitner, or bobby carpenter..

Walker ain’t worth a 1st. Keep the 22nd pick….Walker’s still a gamble himself. He’s had one great season, and a very serious injury.
I’d like him, obviously, but the 22nd pick would be too high a price.
Especially considering what we got for T.O..

WE ARE NOT GOING TO GET WALKER. THE PACKERS WANT TOO MUCH AND THERES OTHER INTERESTED TEAMS THAT HAVE MORE TO OFFER (PICKS, PLAYERS). THOSE RAY LEWIS WET DREAMS NEED TO STOP TOO. WE WONT GET EITHER OF THESE GUYS.

I heard that Denver and Eagles will give sixth pick to green bay for Walker.
Why dont we give Green Bay, Kwamme Harris, then give them a 3rd round or 4th round for Javon Walker. Then in the draft, we can pick up Vernon Davis at #6 if Jets dont get him,and hope Patriots dont get D.Williams, then get D.Williams at #22. Then we will have a strong protection crew and A.Smith will do excellent this year.
10 hours after the fact.juan said:
what the hell can we offer them definatly not the 22 Right????

Forget Walker. Too much money, too much risk. He’s not worth it. Am I the only one the realizes that he’s only had 1 stellar year in the nfl?
This is what ya do.
11 hours after the fact.Draft Davis @ #6 = no brainer.
Then trade up from #22 to #15 and draft Chad Jackson Wr from flordia.
There is no way we are going to be an instantly good team next year with Davis Walker and Lawson, so lets focus on O this year, and focus on D next year through Free Agency and the draft. Hell, they might even surprise you this year with the improved offense keeping the D off the field.
We should be in no rush to improve overnight, we have cap room and young players coming in, lets not waste it on busted down walker who is really overrated anyway.

yea..i already said my bad earlier…but as far as walker goes…we’re not in deparate need for a receiver now..yea he can make an instant impact, but we would be looking at five receivers for smith to throw to..not including davis(if we get him), EJ, RB’s, and whomever we end up getting in the draft or free agency..we also have a running gameto go to..if anything i would give up our fourth and maybe another pick next year…if we do end up with VD as our first choice..its obvious that defense will be our next two picks..while adding depth with our day two picks..
