Sources have confirmed that the 49ers have spoken with members of the Ohio State coaching staff regarding three highly-regarded defensive prospects that San Francisco would like to fit into its 3-4 defensive system. There’s a good chance the Niners could end up with at least one of them in the NFL draft later this month – and maybe even more than one.
The Niners have had discussions with OSU staff members regarding linebacker prospects A.J. Hawk and Bobby Carpenter and defensive end Mike Kudla, whom the Niners would likely move to linebacker in their 3-4 scheme.
According to Scout.com sources, there are plenty of other teams taking concentrated interest in those three Ohio State stars by seeking out and talking to coaches on the Ohio State staff.
There’s at least a 50-50 chance – and, likely, higher – that the 49ers would select Hawk if he still is available with their No. 6 pick in the first round.
Carpenter is a prospect the team would highly consider with their second-round pick – the No. 37 overall – while Kudla is a prospect the 49ers would hope to be able to grab in the middle rounds.

If Hawk is still there at #6, there shouldn’t be any reason not to take him. 50-50 is a really low guesstimate probability. Hawk 1st, then Lewis (TE, UCLA) in the second, and the draft already would be a good one… at least in my opinion.

no we need “The Duke”.. This draft is way to deep at linebacker to be taking Hawk with our 6th.

It’s just as deep at tight end!

Well i wanted Hawk in the firts place although i dont think he’ll be there. So we’ll eithe get the duke or michael huff

I’d rather we get V. Davis @ 6 and maybe Bobby Carpenter in the 2nd. Our defense wasn’t entirely bad, but when they are on the field for 2/3’s of the game they were too tired by the middle of the third quarter. We need to improve the offense, which will indirectly improve our D

We should take VD, he is one of a kind player he ran a 4.38 as a tight end thats unheard of, then draft a linebacker in the second round.

I want VD to,but i couldnt argue if we got Hawk in the first and Carpenter in the second…Our LB core would be sick.

I agree w/Vin on this… Hawk in the 1st and M. Lewis in the 2nd wouldn’t be a bad start to our draft at all… I’m still hoping for VD w/#1 and maybe Carpenter w/ #2, I think that draft would be the only better option over Hawk and Lewis.(IMO)

Hey whoever is that imposter of me, (there is only one “THE VIN” and it’s me), kiss my ass. I hope you fall off of a cliff, break both of your legs, then get bitten by a rattlesnake on your bum, fall over, onto a steeper cliff, and DIE.
7 hours after the fact.Vernon Davis. If he’s there at 6, there should be no reason not to take him…even with Hawk on board. Hawk will be ILB #3 in our defense.

Hey..”the Vin”...you aren’t very nice. And I agree with you 100%...accept can he get hit by a car too?

I’d take A.J. Hawk if he’s available in the first. Offensive star may win games, but Defense wins Championships. Hawk possesses some of the abilities, smarts and leadership that can elevate their team to the next level. Don’t get me wrong Vernon Davis is a really great talent and weapon on the field. But he’s only as good as the QB who’s throwing the ball to him. Now if Alex Smith is well adapted to the system then I won’t have a problem taking a young WR or TE in the first round. Hawk with the Niners, now were talking!

Who did we get for Rashaun Woods?

To me there are so many areas we need to improve but if VD is there I say take him. But if we do get Hawk I won’t be mad. If we get VD, I hope he scores against the Chokeland Raiders(fuckin faggots), or if we get Hawk, I hope he sacks Aaron Brooks, FUCK THE RAIDERS

Rashaun Woods has been traded to the Chargers for former 2003 1st rd pick Sammy Davis (cb). Davis is not a stud but at least his ass is on the field. Good move.

BRING IN THE DUKE
we cant pass up on this guy! the only person that we should even consider drafting is mario williams, but he prolly wont be there.

Get Vernon Davis at #6, even if AJ Hawk is available. There is depth at defense in the draft, but VD is a rare player and frankly I am not in favor of waiting a year to see how awesome he is on another team. VD is the way to go.

GB gonna take Hawk, so we won’t have the choice. Besides we’ve went over what VD could do in our scheme, while providing insurance for EJ and possibly playing a little WR. For Alex’s sake, please draft VD
