Getting VD is one of the best moves we could possibly do this offseason. I will personally be pissed off as hell if we end up trading down in the draft to the "teens" to get Huff. VD is criticised for his blocking but come on people, weigh his good against his bad and its no contest! He has reciever capabilities, is a good blocker (but he is no offensive lineman), and with him and Erick Johnson we would have an extremely scary offense with 2 tight ends! Giving Alex Smith another target will not hurt us but only help. It is a step in the right direction. A few days ago on NFL.com I also saw this report by about a former 49er who is trying to buy a team with Steve Young (I am assuming they were referring to Arena Football.) This former 49er was wanting the Niners to get VD and even said he would personally join the staff to mentor and build VD to be a big part of our offense.
Vernon Davis should be our #6 pick. Hands down. We have two 3rd round picks and personally I think we should trade down some of our later picks for another first rounder to pickup a linebacker line Greenway (who I do not think will get picked before pick #15) and then get Bing in the second round.

I agree with Darrel, Our defense is not that bad, they are just on the field way to long. Someone to move the chains is exactly what the niners need. V.D

I agree with Darrel. Our defense was pretty good of what I saw last year, even if it was full of second and third strings. Most points against us were scored in the later quarters because our offense couldn't stay on the field. A solid offense is what would help our defense the most. So I say go with VD and let EJ start this year and let VD play backup and come in on two TE sets. Let him work with the offensive line coach during a big part of this year, since we all know, the greatest area of improvement of offensive lineman is between their rookie year and 2nd year. So, when EJ's contract is over next year and we might have to let him go, VD should have improved greatly with his blocking.

U fool's!! If the offense is constantly going 3 and out, our defense will quickly wear down. Which is why we need VD to help us moving those chains, besides EJ is a gamble to stay healthy. VD would be the perfect solution to slow the pass rush, even the flats routes could be dangerous. Plenty of defensive help in next few rounds, I like Bing and Richard Marshall is a sleeper(and a local boy)!!!!

If Williams, Hawk and Huff are gone @ #6, I wouldn't mind trading down a few spots and picking up another 2nd and 4th... I think Bunkley, Lawson, J. Williams would all be good picks for us.
