Is he that good that he can weigh his options?

NO EVANS!

No Jeff he’s not that good. But if comes cheap enough, he’ll add depth to a position we’re very thin at. We need to trade up and get Mario Williams.

Travis Hall, last seasons rotating end, is UFA and this signing would upgrade that position with some youth.

More the reason we shoulda got abraham dammit
7 days after the fact.Jorge said:
Abraham wasn’t a 3-4 DE. He would of been a OLB. So it wouldn’t of payed of to get Abraham in my opinion. And giving up our 1st round pick for him would of been a mistake.
7 days after the fact.Jerald said:
Darrel are you asleep. Or do you just not get it.
7 days after the fact.Abraham didn’t want to go to Seattle, even though
they offered more money than Atlanta. He wanted to
go home. (South Carolina). Why would he even considor the 9ers. We’re rebuilding. Plus he’ll be
asking for a new contract next year.

First off Jerald u can call me daddy. Second I haven’t slept in years, so stop hatin on my “pipe” dreams. By the way Williams isn’t our 1st pick, that would be THE DUKE bitches

What school and position did THE DUKE bitches
!
7 days after the fact.play for? The only Duke I could find played @ USC
in the 20’s or 30’s. He went undrafted. Made a 100
movies or so.
Darrel said:
oops sorry. i though u were a fellow ninerholic,if u were u would know who the Duke aka VD is. He’s that freak that’s gonna be streakin up and down the hash marks in candlestick

by VD he means Vernon Davis, a tight end prospect thats hella fast
at least i think thats what he means…
7 days after the fact.Darrel said:
By VD I mean Vernon frickin’ Davis, if u don’t know him, u will soon(whether the niners draft him or not).

Boys, Boys….let’s save some of that wrath for the Seachickens. If Super Mario or Hawk is not there at #6, VD is the MAN. In regards to Demetric Evans, he’s worth signing. He was in on quite a few snaps for a really good skins “D”. We need DE’s and OLB’s, Evans could be a good role player!

yo hopefully who ever we draft they,re a immediate impact but we need another wide out and maybe pick up charles woodson.

I like the idea of signing Demetric Evans, he can be our DE/OLB type of player similar to AC, only Younger, More Upside and Cheaper.
And if we get Evans; our Draft should be like this:
RD 1. VD
RD 2. Carpenter
RD 3. McClover and Watkins
RD 4. Nance
RD 5. Schlegel
RD 6. Mills and a OT
RD 7. A few Developmental Prospects
we would have a roster of this:
QB; Smith/ Dorsey/ Palmer
RB; Barlow/ Gore/ Hicks/ Jackson
FB; Hetherington/ Mills
WR; Bryant/ Battle/ Gilmore/ Nance/ Woods/ Maxwell/ Hamilton(PUP)
TE; EJ/ VD/ Bajema
C; Newberry/ Heitmann
OG; Allen/ Smiley/ Baas
OT; JJ/ Snyder/ Harris/ Rookie
DE; BY/ Douglas/ Evans
DT; Adams/ ICE/ Fields
OLB; Moore/ Carpenter/ McClover/ C.Smith
MLB; D.Smith/ Ulbrich/ Schlegel/ Maxwell
CB; Spencer/ Rumph/ Harris/ DJ/ Thornton
FS; Watkins/ Adams
SS; Parrish/ Lewis
K; Nedney
P; Lee
LS; Jennings
PS; OT Estes, our 2 7th rounders, WR Marshall, and 4 more players.

I read Jason’s post about the way the team would look. Dude, all I know is a like the idea of getting Vernon Davis as our #1 pick. However, I do not see it happening. Nolan is an ex-defensive coordinator. If we do not get Mario Williams or AJ Hawk (I prefer Hawk) I bet we still would not get Vernon Davis. No, with Nolan’s FA decisions I would not be surprised if we do something stupid like getting Michael Huff. Ay Carumba.
6 days after the fact. What I am hoping will happen on draft day is for Vince Young to be available at #6 (yes, hard to believe but weird things have happened) or if not him then Cutler. Then maybe we can trade up like 3 or 4 picks to get Vernon Davis and in the process of trading down we’d get another pick later in the draft. Maybe the pick can be used to acquire a linebacker or DE. What yall think?
mike said:
i think trading down and still getting VD would be the best draft scenario. i dont see williams or hawk having as big of an impact as VD could, plus smith could certainly use some help on offense
6 days after the fact.Vin said:
I don’t see us drafting VD. I don’t see anything wrong with drafting Huff either.
If we want VD, we cant trade down too far. He won’t last past pick #10 (Arizona), and trading up to get VD would make no sense, because I don’t think any of the top 5 picks are in the market for a TE. If they want VD, they’re probably going to stay where they are, but otherwise, the door is wide open.
A few notable prospects I dont see anyone mentioning (that would fit well and we could trade DOWN for): Winston Justice (USC), Chad Greenway (Iowa), Tamba Hali (Penn State).
5 days after the fact.P'Nelly said:
Vin, here’s what I’ve heard lately. Greenway had a disastrous combine and recently only pumped out 16 reps of 225lbs….so his strength at the next level has been questioned. Hali apparently can’t keep his weight up, and is down in the 260’s, which ain’t going to work for a 3-4 DE! With the signing of Allen, Justice is an unlikely pick. All these signs lead me to think VD is the Man. A trade down wouldn’t be bad though, especially getting a 2nd or 3rd rounder along with picking a guy likely Broderick Bunkley(6-2, 295).....he’s a beast and would be a perfect 3-4 end.
5 days after the fact.Vin said:
Yeah, Bunkley is also another one of those players that are under the radar (sort of) that the Niners can trade down and still get.
From what I gather, the most likely people that would trade up to the Niners’ spot are: Vikings (to try to get in on the QBs), Patriots (in need of a DB), or the Dolphins (in serious need of a DB).
Those three teams are middle of the round teams, and would make for a prime spot to pick up someone like Bunkley (though I don’t really see him getting past Baltimore @ 13).
5 days after the fact.P'Nelly said:
I think you’re right, the Vikings can’t bank on Brad Johnson for more than a year or two. I also hear that Denver wants to move up and grab QB to eventually takeover for Plummer….they have stock piled a bunch of picks lately! What do you think of Jimmy Williams (DB VA tech), if we trade down and pick in the teens somewhere?

Damn!, its been like two weeks now that we have been trying to get Evans. Can we just sign his ass already.
