The 49ers not only are willing to trade down in the first round of the April 29 draft but will be receptive to offers of trading up as well.

“We’ve at least talked about it,” coach Mike Nolan said this week at the owners’ meeting in Orlando, Fla.

If Nolan indeed wanted to move up in the order, he has plenty of ammunition to do so. The 49ers currently have 11 picks in the draft, including four in the first three rounds, and the coach admitted he has been getting numerous inquiries – some serious, some not – over the last few days.

More likely scenarios, however, have the 49ers staying put at No. 6 or trading that pick for even more selections.

Nolan is quite pleased with the 49ers’ positioning and predicted there will be “more than one player we like” when it is their turn to pick. He also has a sense the 49ers will have plenty of offers to trade down.

“Where we sit is a real ideal situation,” he said. “I think a lot of people will have a good idea of what the teams behind us, the Raiders (at pick No. 7) for example, might do. They won’t know for sure. But if they want that guy the Raiders want, for example, you’ve got to come to us.”
