Update: (04.01.06)—From our source Niners are not shopping Harris. Don’t look for him to be traded. Only way is if there is an offer to good to pass up. Niners see Harris as a valuable backup (swingman) if by chance he does not beat out Snyder for the starting spot.
03.31.06—Len Pasquerelli is still reporting the Falcons are taking an interest in RT Kwame Harris. Apparently Nolan has turned down a 3rd and a 4th round pick for Harris from another team:
ESPN.com has confirmed that there have been some discussions between Atlanta and San Francisco officials about Harris, a player to whom the current 49ers staff has no innate loyalties, since it didn’t choose him. Word at the annual league meetings earlier this week was that the 49ers have already turned down an offer of third- and fourth-round draft choices for Harris from another franchise interested in him, so the Falcons might have to go a bit higher than that to land the three-year veteran, and they might be reluctant to do so.

i agree…that’s a better deal that what we got for brandon lloyd. who knows? maybe atlanta will let go of a 2nd rounder…

I pretty mixed on Harris at this point… I still have that side of me that hopes he can be really good and the other side that says he’ll never be really good! I would have never wanted to trade him for anything less that a 3rd rd pick though, so after hearing we can actually get a 3rd and a 4th rd pick… Wow… Imagine what we could get with another 3rd and 4th (even if only one was in this years draft) – That would land us a lot of players in this years draft and even give us an opportunity to trade up in one of the rounds if need be

This guy has great talent, and a talent for picking-up penalties and critical times. If they can get a couple of high draft choices they (49ers) should be commended! Don’t forget, he was a first round pick, and is a current starter…... He cost them a few games over the years. Think of how much more money they will save by getting rid of him….”Kwame, you are a shame!”

Nolan must have the best poker face. If I was the coach and someone offered me a 3rd round pick for Harris I would starting laughing as I ripped the contract out of there hands to sign off on the deal.

Atlanta doesn’t have a first round pick, so I find it hard to believe they would trade a second for Kwame Harris. I don’t know who offered a third and fourth, but odds are, the third is higher than Atlanta’s third (#93)...there are only 4 picks remaining in the third round after the Falcons.

You give lloyd away for a 3rd round pick. Who the hell is Harris to get more.

I think Nolan is holding out for other offers. Just like any auctioner, you wait until you have found the “best” offer. For some reason, I think Nolan could be looking to move down (in the draft) in the process as well.
e.g.: 1st, 2nd, 4rd rounder for Harris + 1st rounder.
Pipe dreams (on my part), but you’d never know!

Kwame provides a decent backup, he’s a much improving run blocker as well. The guy is still very young, and despite his foolish penalties, he does have room 2 improve. If we r being offered a 3rd and a 4th for him, someone must see something they like….............

We got a 3rd + a 4th for Lloyd. The reason we didn’t get any more is because he only has one year left on his contract, and teams knew that he would be a FA after next year.
Think of it this way a 3rd+ a 4th for Lloyd is almost as much as the Vikings got for Daunte Culpepper (you could easily trade a 3rd + a 4th for a 2nd rounder anyday).

Well what are we waiting for, trade that bitch ass already.

This dude is nothing more than a backup at RT this season, a 3rd alone is a steal for this bum.

Don’t we already have the max for draft picks anyway? Maybe atlanta is trying to give us next years 2nd, and 3rd

I say trade that chunk butt MF*cker, he took away a 75 yard touchdown catch by Barlow, making Barlow look worse. And how about them penalties? Are we sure this guy really went to stanford? or did he graduate from the U of Samford back east. I donno but he just sucks. If he looks beautiful in someone elses eyes (2nd round good) then let them have the chunky butt.

How can Harris turn into Walter Jones…You do follow the 49ers right?

The 49ers can’t trade Harris who will play the piano at the team dinners? Seriously I am surprised that Nolan turned down the trade for a 3rd he would have accomplished his goal of getting 12 picks for the draft.

I’m surprise we got offer this much for Harris considering what QBs like Ramsey and Culpeper got traded for.Well its a gamble that we didn’t took the 3rd and 4th round pick for Harris… I hope it pays out and we get a 2nd. What I hate the most is that we took Harris in that draft right before Larry Johnson got taken by KC, could you image the impact LJ would have done to our 49ers if we had taken him instead of Harris…

Remember you guys…the simple truth about football – “The Game Is Won and Lost in the TRENCHES!”......Qb’s, Rb’s, Lb’s, Db’s, Wr’s, K’s, P’s and Special t’s are all important, but they don’t control the game like: C’s, T’s, G’s, Te’s, Dt’s, and De’s
