Hope reached an agreement in principle Wednesday with the Titans. Terms of the deal weren’t available. He had been asking for a contract in the $4 million-a-year range. After days of negotiating, the Steelers decided to let Hope go and instead signed the Redskins’ Ryan Clark, giving him a four-year, $7 million contract.

Hope had also been talking with the Dolphins and the 49ers, but negotiations with the Titans heated up Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Update: 10:58 – Chris Hope is set to meet with the 49ers today (03.15) Hope left Tennesse without a contract.

03.14.06 – Okay yesterday we say the reports from KFFL stating this:

Greg Beacham, of the Associated Press, reports the San Francisco 49ers will visit with free agent S Chris Hope (Steelers) sometime this week.

Now we are hearing this. There were rumors that Hope canceled his visit with the 49ers. The thing is he never had one scheduled. However, the Niners do want to bring him in but at this time there is no date set on when he will visit, if he even does.
