Update: 11:21 – John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports free agent WR David Givens (Patriots) has canceled his visit with the Houston Texans Sunday, March 12. Reports out of New England late Saturday evening, March 11, were that Givens had decided to re-sign with the New England Patriots.

Free agent wide receiver Antonio Bryant is in town. Reports are that he arrived in Santa Clara late Saturday to meet with head coach Mike Nolan. Bryant started 15 games last year for the Cleveland Browns, catching 69 balls for 1,009 yards an four touchdowns. If the earlier reports we mentioned about players not visiting unless they are signed holds true. Look for a deal to be announced with Bryant anyday now.
We also received confirmation from a source close to the site. We’ll call him ‘Mr. Bo Jangles’ he called the Marriott in Santa Clara and have received confirmation that both Antonio Bryant and David Givens have reservations there. No word yet if Givens has arrived in town but he does have a room reserved. Take that for what it is worth, considering Givens is supposed to be in Houston on Sunday.

I think I understand the “Nolan Plan” now. First step was obvious, open up some cap room. Steps 2 and 3 took place last year. Get your stud QB and give him cheap talented developable proteccion. 2006 is step 4 use the open cap room to add the reamaining missing links (2 good WRs). I think I like what our offense is showing. We still have 3 more years ahead for the full Nolan Plan to develop. But Im excited already, and now we have two more draft picks to fill up spots. Too bad we couldnt get the 2 picks this year.

Dont worry about the defense…. the way I see it we sign Woodson and draft AJ Hawk (that pretty much means bye bye Peterson). And we could re-sign Andre Carter. Thats an OK defense on my book.

If bryant and givens comes to the team and a good running game our offense should be in tip top shape. I think we should Michael Huff a la la Ronnie Lott, to bad we did’nt get sam madison( he with the giants)

Signing these 2 is crucial. Trade down a couple spots and draft Davis. Trade Eric johnson, and release Woods june 1. Sign Law and Milloy. There

That report that Givens resigned w/ the pats is false. The boston herald said that “The houston chronical’s report about Givins resigning was erronious.”

James…thanks I just saw the report. I’ll have to do some more checking and see when he is to still come to SF. Hopefully Battle can convince him to come here.
