what about vernon davis. this is one of the deepest LB corps in the past 20 years and VD is one of the best TE prospects in recent history. TE was easily our worst position last year (smith is still developing at QB and should be much better this year) and by selevting a playmaker with WR speed (4.38), a nice vert. (40 in.) and impressive strength (bench 225 lbs., 33 times). imagine him splitting to the outside or in the slot, who would u put on him: CB, LB, S? with the addition of davis, it would help out both our run and pass game, and allow the niners to focus on defense for the next couple picks and get some playmakers on that side of the ball.
